French accents and regional variants we handle
Standard (Parisian) French is what most broadcast and professional recordings use, and ConvertSpeech is tuned for it. It handles metropolitan French across France, Belgium and Switzerland reliably.
French also varies by region. Canadian French (Québécois) has noticeably different vowels, intonation and vocabulary from European French, and African French adds its own accents and loanwords. Clear speech in any of these transcribes well; the biggest factor in accuracy is recording quality rather than the specific accent. Tips for accurate French transcription
- Use the clearest recording you have — a good microphone and low background noise matter most.
- Keep the language set to French rather than auto-detect when you know the recording is French.
- One speaker at a time transcribes best; heavy overlap reduces accuracy.
- For interviews with several people, enable speaker detection (a free registered feature) to label each speaker.
